LVMTV:: Russell Fork Update

The Russell Fork of the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River crossing the border between Virginia and Kentucky is a staple fall whitewater destination for eastern US kayakers. A combination of a laid back atmosphere and a welcoming local population are refreshing after spending weekends at the Gauley, home or school (not paddling). The Russell Fork is a dangerous river, leading to a rather dark reputation, however the rapids are quality and as long as you have the skills to run them you will have a great time, gar-on-teed. Check out this short video to get a taste of what it’s all about. If you haven’t been there before, plan on going next weekend or next season. It’ll be well worth your gas money. Every year the Russell Fork Rendezvous and the Lord of the Fork Race fall on the last weekend in October and always promise a good time. More info on the river here and the race on over here.
