This week, we focus on an increase in whitewater parks and the role they play in introducing people to whitewater paddling. Fergus Coffey, head of instruction over at the US National Whitewater Center, offers up some numbers and insight as to how many people have developed a love for whitewater as a result of the opening of the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. Take a watch and a listen and post any comments you have about this on this page. Enjoy. Run Time: 12:03.

First off, appologies for the technical difficulties the last few days. This has been posted, deleted, re-posted, etc. Thanks to John Grace's computer science degree, now it works, and you can subscribe to this podcast on iTunes and it will work on your iPod and iPhone.
So the Monday Morning Madhouse is here to stay. This week we have Christian Magallanes in the studio talking about a harrowing rescue situation he was a part of on Big Creek in the Smokies. It involved a swimmer being submerged under a log for over 12 minutes and the rescue effort which took place to save his life. Fortunately he made it relatively unscathed, but there are some good lessons to be learned here so take a listen. Mr. Magallanes also gives a brief account of a recent expedition he completed on the Thule Bheri River located in one of the most remote regions of Nepal. Hope you like it, we'll be on time next monday with the next installment.

In the midst of scrambling to get LVM 29: Pacific Northwest vs. Wild and Wonderful West-by-god-Virginia out the door, we found a little time to share some fresh footage. The LVM rafting contingent, Oregon Rafting Team (www.oregonraftingteam.com), has been killing it lately. Here’s a sample of what they’ve been up to. Stay tuned, more of this to come.

We feature a lot of local bands on LVM, and this weekend will be a great opportunity to see them live in action if you’re in Asheville. Speedsquare, Bugs Multiply, and The Poles will be playing at the Pop Asheville Festival (www.popasheville.com) going on downtown this weekend. Check out our Music page to find out when you’ve heard ‘em. Tickets for the weekend are only $15 so come on out and hear some good live music!

John Grace is getting back today from a nice vacation. While he was gone, some anonymous rabble rousers noticed this ad posted in the local personals and decided to show his boat a good time. They decided the LVM website would be the best place for John to find out about these adventures his boat embarked on. Welcome back John. Your kayak got a little loose while you were gone, you may want to have a talk with it.

Friday afternoon Dave Hoffman of Portland fired up one of my personal favorite drops, Mosier Falls. This is such a sweet ride just line it up and hold on. I was stoked to photograph this moment. The light was fading and it was about to hail, but everything worked out fine. A roll at the bottom and Dave was hooting and fist pounding his way down the rest of the canyon.
