Winners from the 1st Annual Rider of the Year Awards.
LVM 33 will be shipping soon and chock full o good carnage, like this:
Here’s some carnage from LVM Issue 33, due out in a few weeks. Check it!
Spring is just around the corner and we are putting together our first issue of the year #33. It is action packed with first descents on Upper Creek in North Carolina and The Iskut River in British Columbia, a ’sweet as’ New Zealand piece produced by Tyler Fox, the complete Jocassee Experience, playboating, The Green Race and much much more. Subscribe for 2010 here.
Now a part of LVM we have always put a lot of effort into is the intro. We have attempted to be funny in the intros, created badass graphics, fancy edits etc. For this intro we have decided to do something a little different and have a contest, one we haven’t done before. The contest is called ‘Bikini Boat Carrying Contest’.
To enter simply video someone in a bikini carrying a kayak and edit it to the provided track. The winner gets $100 in cash, and featured in the intro of LVM #33. The hottest model may win, most original edit, hairiest dude in a bikini, who knows but there is a $100 incentive on the table to get out and show the world what you got!

First things first, we want to emphasize how impressed we were with all the work that went into these videos. No one understands more than us how hard and frustrating it can be to capture, edit, export, and send off video projects, probably last minute. Secondly, it was a tight race. We put up the online poll to see what the public had to say, and the public spoke loudly. There was some speculation of some vote manipulation going on, so we took those with a grain of salt.
In the end, we have to give the win to Kirk Eddlemon and Gorged Out Productions. His submission was well edited, had fresh footage that is rarely seen, and documented their trip and the work that went into it well. These guys got out there and killed it, ’nuff said. Congrats Kirk, all your exploration and legwork paid off. Kirk’s video will open LVM 30, and the other videos will be in the Bonus Features. Huge thanks to all of the contributors, keep at it. This was an exciting contest and there’ll be more to follow. Stay tuned.

We ended up with six outstanding entries in the first ever ‘Werner Paddles Wet Kayak Contest’. This contest is unique in that all the participants were forced to edit to the same track! The judges here in the LVM office and out at Werner are in a three way tie, and have decided we need your help with the final decision. We have a voting poll at the bottom of the page so if you are a contestant rally your friends and family for their votes. We will announce the winner Thursday at noon.
This first entry is from the Alabama Kayak Club. Sam England heads up the effort and shows us how they do it in Alabama.

Next we have a unique little piece brought to us by Dave Deggendorg. While filmed on only one rapid this video has kept our attention during each viewing.

Here we have young lion Mason Robinson and others getting after it. They really want me to put them on LVM and it just may happen. Check out the shots of Duke Creek as they boys show us how to take the hit with style.
