Golden Strokes Von Strokerton of April 8th

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

So many good images and videos out there it is ridiculous. We like them all and will get them posted, so if you sent us an image and it hasn’t made the site yet stand by, it is coming.

Up first GRL, Chris Roberts shows us a couple more from his home river on The Green Narrows.

Here we have two nominees: 1st Wilson Bell golden stroking off the Monkey during a practice session for 2009 Jerry’s Baddle. Second is the legendary Eric Stritmatter(?) showing some true golden prowess at Sunshine! Pics by Chris Roberts

Stritty rules!

Next up…

Dear LVM,

I’ve been very fortunate to have good friends capture some great shots.
Here are a few from the past year that might be considered golden
strokes..Thanks to Emily McAdams(midnite hole), Geoff Kohl(Gorilla), and
Scott Darby(notch) for the photos.

Thanks,

Mike

Midnight Hole, Big Creek

The Notch, it is scary!

The notch worked out and now for some lightning riding.

Next up representing our man Ryan Snodgrass.

Hey guys,

Here are some photos that I think would be good for the golden stroke competition. I tried to use pics that emphasize strokes being taken. The one with the yellow Jackson boat is Taylor Martin on the last drop of Goforth Creek, as is the up close one of me in the blue Burn. The third that shows the boof to grind move is me the Pinnacle rapid of Suck creek.

Thanks,
Ryan Snodgrass

Goforth and be gold

Suck, Sucky, Sucks so good. Chattanooga staple Suck Creek

And one final entry for today.

I know you can’t have a shot of class II win this contest, but I think
this shot is better than any hardcore shots I have, although I may
enter some of those as well. Paddler is Karl Whipp on Big South Fork
of the Cumberland. And if you want a higher res version to prove he
is actually taking a Golden Stroke, let me know.

Thanks,

Jim Janney

The Golden Strokes of April 7th… It’s Heating Up!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

There are some great photos coming in one after another! Let’s get straight into it. Here are a few really good ones taken by Chris Gallaway, be sure to check out Chris’s movie about the legendary Green Race here.
Hello LVM,
Hope you guys are enjoying these warm spring days and getting out on the water. I thought I’d send in a few submissions for your Golden Stroke contest. In the first photo we have Matthew Duke executing a beautiful boof during a low-water summer day on the West Fork of the Pigeon. Next up is Mike Patterson dropping into Cave Falls on the Linville last fall. And last, we have the great Chris Gragtmans running Soc’em Dog (with a considerable audience) shortly after he won the nonexistent Chattooga Race this past January. Enjoy, and thanks for putting on the contest,

Chris

Hey LVM!
Here’s a pic of my brother, Tim Smith, Golden Strokin’ on the North Fork of the Blackwater, WV on my birthday weekend in March! With the heavy snow pack up in the Canaan Valley, we had good flows on the North Fork all weekend long!

Very Nice Topher

Some California for all the loyal LVM viewers.

Hey LVM’ers,
Here is a pic from the hospital rock run on the middle fork of the kaweah from a recent spring break trip out to cali, thanks Tom Michael Janney, enjoy.

Kaweeeeaaaaaahhhhh!

And finally…

So I’m out of class and on my way to paddle our local run and I get a call from my friend…”Did you know you’re on the front page of LVM? DUDE, you won TEVAS!”

Fantastic!

Hopefully the next time I am bestowed with such far reaching fame and accolades it will be for something other than screwing up on video, but for now I’ll stick with what I can get.

Thanks for the Tevas and DVD! I’m a shoe size 11 and My address is…

Golly, free gear, DVD appearances, comments on my video from US national team members, I might as well be a professional. Thanks for the ego boost folks!!!

Danny

ps. I’m greedy and just snapped my paddle. Here is my shot at capturing a golden stroke. If I’m on a roll why not?

Thanks for the entry, but this one may not win the paddle:)

Danny you are a professional in our eyes and keep it hairy side up from now on. Check back later today as we launch another Daily Digger.

April 6th, The Werner Golden Stroke Photo Contest Continues…

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Don’t forget there is a Werner Premium Grade Paddle on the line here.

Up first we have…
Hey Guys,

Though I might send this photo your way. Nate W. took it of me on the New Haven Ledges in Northern VT. If you guys have never been up that way, this river is awesome! Its the training ground for New England creekboaters. One mile of continuous Class IV with a 2 min shuttle. Run laps all day! I had just spend 4 months in Oklahoma, and then moved straight to NH. This was a perfect way to shake off the rust!

Peace
Toby

P.S. Should you be so gracious as to choose our photo as the winner, Nate deserves the paddle (Unless of course you want to give out two! ; )

Gold from Vermont

Here we have a ‘first timer’ at Stateline Falls…
Alex Knupp dropping Stateline Falls on the Watauga for his first time
The photo was taken by Matt Dalton.

Please enter this photo of my wife (Jennifer Bradley) & me into the hunt for the new Werner Premium Paddle! The shot was taken by Steve Moore at Alien Boof on the Upper Ocoee this past summer (7/25/09). The shot really illustrates a great tandem “Golden Stroke” in our custom black & white Dynamic Duo wedding boat!! Thanks & have a nice day!

Duo Boof

And the final pictures for today, a pair from the tea colored waters of Minnesota and Michigan sent in by Ryan Zimny. Lots of great shots here and stay tuned tomorrow because there is more gold on the way.

Rada Race action!

Saving the best for last...cmon this shot is oozing gold!

April 5th, Golden Photos and a Video

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Here we have a combo entry from Dave Gorbachev. Looks like these boys have been taking full advantage of the wet and juicy spring the southeast has had this year. Our post tomorrow will venture away from the southeast, but as we look over the submissions California has little representation. We have been hearing of some early season Dinkey and a few other creeks and rivers…let’s see’em Cali!

Hey guys,

Here are some shots and a short video of what we been doin down in the southeast lately. Hope you all like em’

Dave

More gold here for you. We have a shot here from Wesley Bradley on The Watauga…the LVM sticker doesn’t hurt.
Hey John, Will & the rest of the LVM Crew!

Please enter this photo of me into the hunt for the new Werner Premium Paddle! The shot was taken by Matt Dalton at the top of Stateline Falls this past Sunday (3/28/10). The shot turned out to be a great angle to show the “Golden Stroke” which resulted in boof-o-licious good time & me feeling like a true Sexy Kayaking Beast!! I even got the LVM logo in the shot with the sticker on my boat (that should count as a double entry) ;-) Thanks & have a nice day!

Nice LVM sticker Wesley!!!

And now for a little Big Creek action sent in by Matthew Duke. Matt these are great and we are glad that paddle didn’t break on you out there:)

Here are a few golden strokes in honor of the days it was easy to get over to big creek for an after work session.

Matt Duke

Very nice!

Finally a submission by Chris Roberts completing the threesome of Golden Strokes! Let us know what you think of these three and help us narrow it down. Which one of these three is your favorite LVM viewer? Check back Monday as we unload many more Golden Stroke photos and a few special videos! Happy Easter everyone.

Two more golden photos. 1st up is Mr. John Grace off the Monkey while Al G inspects the line! Second is yours truly with a unique shot going off the pad! Sorry, got lots o Monkey pics! First pic by me, second by Stephen Hughes
