Madhouse Podcast, Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

This week, John, Woody, and Will talk about some issues facing many rivers in Canada. The Stikine watershed is threatened by over 60 open pit copper mines, and surrounding rivers will have to be dammed to generate enough power to accommodate these mines. On the other side of the country, rivers such as the Romaine are threatened by massive hydropower development which effectively dams the entire main stem of the river. The Romaine is already on it’s way to becoming Lac Romaine, however there are many other rivers in the region which are under review for hydropower development. LVM 32 is going to show you some of these places and the ‘progress’ which has been made there. Check out Sacred Headwaters, the Romaine Alliance, Hydro Quebec’s Romaine Project Site.

This week John, Woody, and Will are back again discussing what they saw on recent trips to the Romaine and Stikine rivers. Both of these incredible wilderness areas face being lost to mining and hydropower. Here about what they saw and stories from their trips.

LVMTV :: Monday Morning Madhouse; 4/06/09, The Demshitz Movie

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Sorry about the lack of a podcast last week, it’s been a little hectic in the studio. We’ve had Demshitz Evan Garcia, the Brother’s Seiler (Jared and Graham), and friends in the studio for the last week or so working on their newest masterpiece, the Demshitz Movie. It’s looking good, featuring paddling from from the last two seasons from far off places such as Chile and Argentina, Colorado, California, and more. Today, Jared Seiler and Evan talk to us a little bit about what’s going on. Take a look.

Monday Morning Madhouse: 2/16/09; Adventure Kayaking with Pat Keller

Monday, February 16th, 2009

This week, Teva’s Pat Keller gives us some thoughts on why he and so many other people love to go out and test their limits on wilderness kayaking adventures. Hike away from the roadside runs, get out into the cut, and find out why so many people love to experience the feeling of being in the wilderness. If nothing else, I hope this inspires everyone to get out and kick it in the mountains. LVM 29 is coming together and has some good accounts of adventure kayaking on the Thule Bheri river in Nepal, as well as some more continental locales. Run Time: 16:03.
